Girls Struck by Van Near Lakeforest Mall

Route 355 is closed in both directions in Gaithersburg, Md., after two girls were struck by a van.
Three 12-year-old girls were in the crosswalk but attempting to cross Route 355 near Lake Forest Mall against the light when two were struck about 7 p.m., fire officials said. The driver stayed at the scene.
The girls are in critical condition at Children's National Medical Center, but they are expected to survive.
