Getaway Driver in Quadruple Shooting Arrested, Police Say

The man accused of driving the getaway car after a quadruple shooting in Northwest Washington has been arrested, police announced Thursday.

Kevin Cole, 26, has been charged with assault with intent to kill, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said during a news conference Thursday.

According to court documents, Cole dropped the gunman off in an alley between N Street NW and Hanover Place NW on June 8. The suspect was then seen on surveillance footage walking towards the intersection of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue NW.

Police say the gunman opened fire on one man, shooting him multiple times before shooting three additional men outside the Big Ben liquor store on New York Ave. The suspect then ran away and got back into the Ford Explorer Cole was driving, court documents say.

Surveillance footage from the scene helped police identify Cole as the driver of the getaway car.

The men who were shot were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.

Police believe the shooting was not random.
