A man sexually assaulted a student returning to the Georgetown University campus early Friday morning.

The victim told police a man pulled a gun on her in the 3300 block of Prospect Street NW at about 2 a.m.

The man approached the student from behind, put his hand up her dress and tore a part of her clothing. She escaped him, and he fled toward M Street.

She was not seriously hurt.

Police and the university are warning students and residents about the attack. Anyone with information that could help authorities should call 202-687-4343.
