Gas Station Fire Snarls Georgetown Traffic

A gas station and auto shop caught fire in Georgetown Tuesday morning, sending large clouds of smoke into the air over the neighborhood.

The two-alarm fire started at about 8:15 a.m. at the station, located at the corner of Wisconsin and Q streets.  The fire was extinguished by 9:30 a.m.

Twitter user Adam Boalt tweeted out a photo from the scene.

There were traffic issues in the area as crews worked to put out the fire.

Witnesses said they heard a loud bang and saw flames rising above gas station, according to NBC Washington's Megan McGrath.

No injuries were reported.
