Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help in their search for a missing Gaithersburg woman.
Alyona Joy Mayo, 19, of Rosewood Manner Lane in Gaithersburg, was last seen early Saturday afternoon, when she left her home to walk to the Goshen Plaza Shopping Center. At the time of her disappearance, Mayo was wearing a pink hooded jacket, blue jeans, and brown shoes. She is described as being five feet, six inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Authorities say that Mayo functions at the level of an 11-year-old, and it is uncharacteristic of her to be away from home for so long without contacting her family.
