A Gaithersburg man was arrested for possession of marijuana and untaxed cigarettes following a traffic stop, according to Frederick City Police.

Police said Abdul Osman, 28, was stopped on the 1000 block of West Patrick Street for a broken tail light. Officers said that during the traffic stop they also found that Osman was driving with a suspended license.

Authorities said they uncovered a small amount of marijuana and 50 cartons of cigarettes with Virginia tax stamps on them. In Maryland, it is a felony to bring more than two packs of cigarettes per person into the state.

Police charged Osman with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, as well as driving with a suspended license and transporting untaxed cigarettes.
