Friday Funeral for Local Marine Killed in Nevada Accident

William Taylor Wild IV will be buried at Arlington Tuesday

The family of a Maryland Marine remembered the life of their fallen soldier who was one of seven people killed last week when a mortar shell exploded during a training exercise in Nevada.

Hundreds of people attended a memorial service for 21-year-old Lance Cpl. William Taylor Wild IV Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Annapolis at 2 p.m. Wild's body arrived at Dover Air Force Base last week, and a viewing was held at a local funeral home Thursday.

Wild will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday.

He grew up in the Whitehurst community in Severn Park.

Wild went to Severna Park High, where he pitched for a state baseball championship-winning team in 2009.

He enlisted after graduation and served in Afghanistan in 2011.
