Free Gas in Laurel

Get $20 worth until 9:30 a.m.

If you are running on empty this morning, it may be worth going a little out of your way to fill your tank for free!

That’s right, FREE!

The Shell station on Route 1 near Route 198 in Laurel, Md., is giving away $20 worth of free gas to every car that stops by. But you have to hurry. The giveaway only lasts until 9:30 a.m.

It’s one of three Shell stations nationwide giving away free fuel this morning, and the Discovery Channel is footing the bill to promote the new season of their show "Gold Rush," which premieres tonight.

“We all know that the economy is tough,” said Chief Marketing Officer of Discovery Channel, David Shackley. “The men featured in 'Gold Rush' are hard-working Americans, like our viewers, who are taking risks and trying to make a decent living. This is our way of giving back to the community with a little liquid gold to start the work day on the right foot.”

The Shell station is located at 703 Washington Boulevard South in Laurel. "Gold Rush" airs at 9 p.m.  on the Discovery Channel.
