Frederick Police Use Taser To Subdue Suspect

A Frederick Police Department officer used a Taser to subdue a belligerent suspect who was found to be in possession of both crack cocaine and marijuana.

Police on foot patrol were alerted to a fight on S. Market Street along Carroll Creek at approximately 2:15 a.m. this morning. When police interrupted the fight, Demitrius Bowie struggled with one of the officers. Bowie had broken free and attemped to flee when the officer Tasered him.

Following the arrest, police discovered quantities of what they suspect to be crack cocaine and marijuana on the 19-year-old man.

Bowie was taken first to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment then released into police custody. Another suspect escaped during the altercation, and a third subject detained police was revealed to be a bystander who attempted to break up the fight.
