A drug known as spice is creating problems for law enforcement agencies because it is perfectly legal.

The synthetic marijuana also known as K2 and Scooby Snacks is labeled as incense, but people smoke it like marijuana.

Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins thinks that selling synthetic marijuana should be a felony.

"It may be legal right now, but it’s extremely dangerous, much more, as far as I'm concerned, than marijuana,” he said.

Frederick County officials said they want Maryland to join surrounding states that have already banned synthetic marijuana.

Maryland delegates and state senators who represent the area met Saturday and decided to propose emergency legislation that would ban the sale of synthetic marijuana in the county and throughout the state.
