Frederick County officials say the flu and a stomach bug could be blamed for high levels of absenteeism in the school district.
High rates of absenteeism are being reported in Middletown middle and elementary schools, as well as Urbana Middle School and Centerville Elementary.
County officials told News4's Scott MacFarlane the district isn't calling the absenteeism an "outbreak" but is simply referring to it as "much higher" than the normal absentee rate in the schools.
The last day of school is Tuesday.
