Lockdown Lifted at Four Prince George's County Schools After Nearby Shooting

Police searching for up to two suspects

Four Prince George's County schools were on lockdown for more than an hour Monday morning after one person was shot and critically injured nearby.

A 17-year-old was walking on the sidewalk near a bus stop in the 9900 block of Greenbelt Road when he was approached by two men, police said. The teen was shot and fell in the middle of the road.

Police are still searching for suspects.

Duval High School, the Goddard School, Catherine Reed Elementary School and Magnolia Elementary School, as well as a home for senior citizens, were locked down for about an hour.

The shooting did not occur at any of the schools. There is no known connection between the victim and Duvall High, Pat Collins reported.

Preliminary information indicates that it was not a random shooting, police said. The motive may have been an ongoing dispute between the victim and the two men.

The victim is believed to have critical injuries.
