Several students were taken to area hospitals after two groups of students got into a fight at Anacostia Senior High School.

Metropolitan Police and D.C. Fire and EMS responded to a fire alarm at 12:45 p.m. and found a fight in progress on the second floor. It does not appear that there was an actual fire, according to Mayor Adrian Fenty's office.

Two groups of people were involved in the fight, according to the mayor's office, and three teenage boys were stabbed with a pen-like knife and taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth teenage boy, who suffered unspecified injuries, was charged in connection with the stabbings, officials said.

A fifth person was taken to a hospital because of an asthma attack.

While police investigated, a fight broke out among students on the football field, and another student was charged in connection with that fight.

The school remains locked down by police.

  • Pachacutec Thursday, Nov 20 at 9:45 AM FLAG COMMENT I feel very sorry for the students who are attending school to LEARN and they have to put up with this sort of behavior. Yes, many of these young people probably don't have an ideal home life, but none of us live in isolation, we all know right from wrong; thing is, far too many people - teens AND adults- don't care. it's "all about me," and who cares if someone else ends up getting hurt or killed? While I agree there need ... MORE >
  • ceejay Thursday, Nov 20 at 9:32 AM FLAG COMMENT I looked at the situation and decided I cannot be social worker to the world. This is why my children went to private school for high school. The parents are more like-minded, they are involved, and when there are conferences, its standing room only, not two dozen parents showing up. I wanted something different for my kids. I wanted them to have fun, and good experiences, and be in a learning environment that was safe.
  • Doughboy Thursday, Nov 20 at 5:43 AM FLAG COMMENT nd yet twice as much money is spent on these wothless animals then in Fairfax. Why are they NOT expelled? Why not tell them they have only 1 chance to attend school, 1 violent act, you are out, forever. Send the malcretants to reform school if such a thing still exists.

Some of these might not have any parents or a home to call their own. That's why i support the after school that some people want to get rid of so much and why instead of saying what should how about you help one of them kids at Anacostia Sen ... MORE >
