Former Sheriff's Deputy Pleads Guilty to Sex With Inmate

A former Prince George's County deputy sheriff pleaded guilty to having sex with an inmate.

The woman was waiting to see a judge June 19, 2012, when Lamar McIntyre took her to a holding cell where they had consensual sex. The inmate reported the encounter to Department of Corrections staff.

“As a sworn law enforcement officer, Mr. McIntyre was entrusted with the safety of those in our custody and he violated that trust, breaking the oath of office he took on the day he joined the sheriff’s department,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said.

McIntyre pleaded guilty to one count of correctional officer sex with an inmate and one county of misconduct in office.

The sex charge carries a maximum sentence of three years, but per the plea agreement, the state will not ask for more than 18 months. The state also will ask for five years of probation and a sexual evaluation for McIntyre.
