Former Police Officer Hurt In Violent Carjacking

A retired DC police officer is recovering after a violent carjacking in Northeast Washington.
 
The carjacking happened Saturday afternoon at a Citgo gas station in the 1300 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
 
Police said the carjackers jumped out of their stolen black BMW and into the retired officers black Lexus convertible. There was an exchange of gunfire between the carjackers and the officer. The officer was shot three times in the arm. The suspects drove away in both cars.
 
Police said the retired police officer was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
 
The carjackers stolen BMW was found in the 500 block of 49th Place in Northeast  Washington.
 
Police said they’re searching the car for evidence, as well as the gas station’s surveillance video.
