Former D.C. Teacher Gets 5 Years in Pornography Case

A former teacher at a District of Columbia high school who pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography has been sentenced to five years in prison.

John Solano, who taught at McKinley Technology High School, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Washington.

Prosecutors say the 30-year-old Solano asked for and received inappropriate and sexually explicit text messages from a 16-year-old student last December. After completing his prison sentence Solano will be placed on 10 years of supervised release and be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

Solano's lawyer did not immediately return a telephone call requesting comment Tuesday.
