Foreign Exchange Student Arrested at Dulles on Sexual Assault Charges

A foreign exchange student is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Stafford County, Va.

Hamad Mastour Alsuwat, 20, was getting ready to board a plane to Saudi Arabia on Sunday when he was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Dulles International Airport.

He has been charged with one count of sexual penetration with an object.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was called to a home on Saturday to investigate a possible domestic disturbance. Authorities said that Alsuwat, who was living at the residence on a student visa, had sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl who also lived there.

Alsuwat was not at the home when the deputy arrived.

Officials conducted an investigation before contacting the Department of Homeland Security in case he became a flight risk, authorities said.

Authorities declined to provide more information "due to the sensitive nature of this ongoing investigation," said Bill Kennedy, public information officer for the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, in a statement
