Five Shot Within Hour and a Half in SE D.C.

Five people were shot within the span of an hour and a half in Southeast D.C. Friday night, and one man is now in critical condition.

Three of the victims were shot in related incidents on Alabama Avenue, one in the 2100 block and one in the 2400 block.

Two of the victims were men and one was a woman. One of the men is in critical condition.

There were two other shootings during that limited amount of time:

  • In the 2200 block of Savannah Street in Southeast, a man was shot. He was reportedly conscious and breathing.
  • In the 4000 block of 3rd Street in Southeast, a man was also shot. He was found conscious and breathing.

"The violence in Southeast has to be stopped," ANC commissioner Anthony Muhammed told News4. "We need more resources for the young people in Ward 8."

Another ANC commissioner, Paul Trantham, said he's considering suggesting a curfew in southeast D.C.

Police are investigating all the shootings.
