Four people were injured Friday afternoon when a car struck the side of a Metrobus headed to Dulles.

The wreck has caused a major backup on westbound I-66 near the Dulles Toll Road, and the westbound ramp from I-66 to Route 267/Dulles Toll Road was closed until 6:09 p.m.

The accident happened about 4 p.m. on I-66 westbound where it meets the Dulles Toll Road. The side of the bus was struck by a Mitsubishi sedan as they attempted to merge.

The bus had 30 to 35 people on it at the time. Two passengers on the bus were transported to Reston Hospital, as were the driver of the bus and of the Mitsubishi.

Their injuries are not life-threatening, Virginia State Police said.
