Firefighters Think Pink for Breast Cancer

Montgomery County firefighters Raise $10K wearing pink T-shirts

Running through smoke, extensive physical training and learning how to save lives were perhaps no help for a group of local firefighters who recently rose to the challenge of designing, selling and wearing pink T-shirts to join the fight against breast cancer.

The men and women of the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters association wore and sold their pink “Fighting For A Cure” T-shirts throughout the month of October and raised $10,000.

They donned the pink tees at Firestation 22 in Germantown Wednesday as they presented two $5,000 checks to the Maryland affiliate of the Susan G. Komen association and the Red Devils, Inc., of Towson, Md. Both organizations are non-profits that provide services, grants and education for breast cancer patients and survivors along with their families.
