Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped in Storm Drain; Dog Had Been Missing for a Year

Montgomery County fire crews rescued a dog that was trapped in a storm drain Friday -- and it turns out the doggie had been missing for more than a year.

Cookie, a 30-pound Wheaton Terrier, was spotted by a neighbor out walking his own dog, a Great Dane named Leonardo, according to WTOP

It took rescuers about two hours to rescue the dog, including cutting through the bars on the storm drain on Lonesome Pine Lane.

Cookie appears to be in good health.

It's not clear how the dog got into the drain, or how long it has been there. Cookie has not yet been reunited with his previous owners.
