Firefighters are trying to figure out what sparked a deadly fire at a D.C. apartment.
It started just after 6 a.m. Friday at a three-story, garden-style apartment building in the 1400 block of 1st Street in Southwest.
Firefighters say once they put the flames out they searched the building and found a woman dead inside a first-floor apartment.
Several others were evacuated from the building.
Investigators have not released the victim's name.
