Firefighters were told to stand by for a few minutes before battling a blaze in Prince George’s County because of gunshots fired, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS.

As firefighters approached the fire in the 5300 block of Lorraine Drive in Temple Hills, Md., they could see a large column of smoke but waited a few minutes as police investigated the reports of shots fired and a possible domestic situation.

Once given the all clear, firefighters found fire spreading rapidly through the two-story home, according to Fire and EMS.

Firefighters found a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the home. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated a suicide after a domestic dispute, according to Prince George’s County police.
