It took 90 firefighters and medics about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control

A three-alarm apartment fire was reported at the Andrews Ridge apartments in the 5600 block of Regency Park Court in Suitland, Maryland. Firefighters were still battling flames as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A fire at the Andrews Ridge Apartment Complex in Suitland, Maryland is now under control.

Firefighters were alerted to a fire at 5621 Regency Park Court at around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday and found heavy flames at the rear side of the building when they arrived on the scene. The fire may have started at the terrace level and extended through the upper floors and onto the flat roof structure, according to authorities.

It took about 90 firefighers and medics about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. One firefighter sustained injuries, and several families will be displaced because of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
