A Prince George's County firefighter is injured after a two-alarm fire broke out in Fort Washington.

Authorities say the fire tore through an apartment complex in the 500 block of Wilson Bridge Drive Sunday afternoon and destroyed much of the roof. Fire crews were called from across the area, including from Fairfax County, Va.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion and a laceration to the hand.

Fire officials say an overloaded power strip caused the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting five families that have been displaced.
