Fire officials are working to determine what started a fire at a Gaithersburg apartment Tuesday morning.

The Montgomery County Fire Department was called to the apartment building in the 7900 block of Spiceberry Circle at around 1 a.m. Officials say the fire started on the ground level, and flames could be seen coming from the building when crews arrived.

No one was injured.

The Red Cross is assisting the 20 displaced families.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
