Female Cab Driver Attacked in Rockville

Woman sexually assaulted at knifepoint

A female cab driver was sexually assaulted while on duty in Rockville, Md., early Wednesday morning.

Montgomery County Police said the man who attacked her was a customer.

Juan Rodriguez has been charged with first-degree sexual offense.

Police said the 35-year-old cab driver had picked up Rodriguez from Glenmont Shopping Center and drove him to Langley Park. They said he called her to pick him up again about an hour later.

Sometime after midnight, the driver was forced out of her taxi at knifepoint, police said. She said the suspect made her walk to a field next to Parkland Middle School, where he sexually assaulted her.

After the attack, the woman ran to a nearby home on Arctic Avenue for help.

Montgomery County police arrested Rodriguez later that night. He is being held without bond.
