Fee Hike for Some D.C. DMV Services

Parking permits, change of address among increases

Your next trip to the DMV in the District could have you digging deeper in your wallet.

The city is increasing certain fees on driver's license and vehicle registration services.

Among the biggest increases is a residential parking permit, which will be bumped from $15 to $35. Seniors will get a slight break with it costing $25.

The following services will increase from $7 to $20:

  • Change of address
  • Duplicate driver's license
  • Duplicate learner's permit
  • Temporary driver's license and ID card
  • Duplicate registration card

All of the new rates take effect Oct. 1. City officials said the new increases are part of an effort to cut a budget gap for the 2012 fiscal year.
