Feds Consider Wider B-W Parkway

Federal highway officials are considering expanding the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

They're spending $1 million to study a proposal to add an extra lane on either side, according to the Washington Examiner.

Greenbelt officials oppose the plan, arguing that extra lanes would increase noise and pollution and cut into land.

Supporters say it would help combat extra traffic expected as a result of BRAC, which will bring an additional 5,400 new workers to Fort Meade.
