Federal Offices Closed Due to Winter Weather

Federal offices in the DC area will be closed Tuesday as a round of snow is expected to hit the region just in time for the morning commute.

On its website, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management says non-emergency federal employees will be granted excused absences, but other employees must telecommute Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Eastern Seaboard, including Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Wilmington, Del. Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected.

The new snow comes on the heels of Sunday's wintry weather, which dumped several inches of snow on Philadelphia and northern Maryland.

Elsewhere, eastern and central Kentucky and southwest Virginia are expected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow.
