Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Roosevelt Bridge

Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that shut down the inbound lanes of the Roosevelt Bridge ahead of the Monday morning rush.

The accident happened just after 4:30 a.m.

The victim, 50-year-old James Greene of Catlett, Virginia, was pronounced dead a short time later at George Washington University Hospital.

Greene was driving his 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle inbound towards D.C. on the bridge when he lost control, skidded and collided with the bridge railing, police said.

The collision caused Greene to fall off the motorcycle and hit his head on the road.

Upon arrival at the scene, Metropolitan Police Department officers found Greene unconscious.

All inbound lanes of the Roosevelt Bridge between Arlington Boulevard and Constitution Avenue were closed for several hours.
