Montgomery County Police have identified the persons involved in a fatal single-car accident at the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway and Viers Mill Road early Saturday morning.

According to police, an officer came across the accident scene around 4:15 a.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, was traveling westbound on Viers Mill Road when it veered into the center median, striking a tree and a road sign.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Danielle Donaldson of Rockville, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Donaldson's passenger, 26-year-old Nashon Barnett of Rockville, was also taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the reason the Sonata went off the road. Individuals who witnessed the accident are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
