Home Struck by Bullets During 1-Year-Old's Birthday Party as Man Shot in Leg Outside

An Anne Arundel County home was struck by a bullet during a one-year-old's birthday party, causing shattered glass to hit a toddler, as a man was shot in the leg while walking outside.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8200 block of Marlton Court in Severn.

The injured man, 25, went to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he told officers that he was walking to a relative's home when he was shot in the leg. His injury was not life-threatening.

A family who was celebrating in a home on the block where the shooting occurred said they heard multiple gunshots, and one shattered their front storm door.

There were six adults and four children between ages 1 and 10 in the home at the time. A toddler was hit by breaking glass, but wasn't injured.

Officers later found "a projectile" on the family's kitchen floor. They believe it passed through the living room wall and hit the refrigerator.

No information is available on a suspect, but authorities said the incident does not appear to be random. They are not receiving cooperation from the victim or the community, they said.

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at 410-222-6155 or make an anonymous tip by contacting Metro Crime Stoppers.
