Family of 5 Recovering From CO Exposure

A Glenarden, Md., family of five called 911 Monday morning experiencing symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure.

A man and woman in their 40s and their children – ages 6, 11 and 16 – woke up complaining of headaches and nausea.

Firefighters tested the air inside the home in the 8600 block of Reicher Street and detected CO at 170 parts per million, according to Prince George’s County fire. Zero to 30 parts per million and any reading over 30 for an extended period of time is considered unhealthy.

Firefighters turned off the natural gas furnace and the water heater.

The family was taken to a Baltimore hospital for possible treatment in a hyperbaric treatment, according to Prince George’s County fire. They were in good condition.
