Falwell University Offers New Definition of “Liberty”

Liberty pulls plug on campus Democratic club

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Liberty University grads could enter the workforce with a skewed idea about their alma mater's namesake. It seems students are NOT at liberty to talk about Democratic positions as it is a Christian school and the immoral Democrats will lead to condemnation.

Why those Democrats enrolled at Liberty in the first place is anyone's guess. They have their battles to fight, we suppose.

And this is one of them: The Lynchburg school founded by the Rev. Jerry Falwell is pulling the plug on the campus Democratic Party, saying the group stands against the conservative Christian school's moral principles, The News & Advance of Lynchburg
reported. The university formally recognized the club in October, apparently having forgotten that Democrats are evil.

Club president Brian Diaz told The News & Advance that he was notified via e-mail last week by vice president of student affairs Mark Hine that the university was revoking its autumn decision to support the club.

The club must stop using Liberty's name, advertising events and holding on-campus meetings, Hine said. Violators could be reprimanded under the school's conduct code and students could face expulsion after accumulating 30 reprimands.

Hine initially praised the club for a being a faith-based cog in the Democratic Party, but it was that party's positions -- not the club's actions -- that led to the decision to pull support, club Secretary Jan Dervish told The News & Advance.

Magic number: 29. Keep close tabs on your reprimands, Liberty Dems, or you'll have to get your conservative arts degrees elsewhere. Diaz probably earned his first when he joined club adviser Maria Childress on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe's conference call, answering questions from reporters around the state.
