Fairfax Detective Faces Public Intoxication Charge in West Virginia

A Virginia police officer is facing charges in West Virginia for an incident near a casino Friday night.

City of Fairfax Police Detective Andrew Luis Diaz was booked on charges of public intoxication and obstructing an officer for allegedly getting in a drunken argument with a West Virginia State Police trooper.

Police found Diaz walking a couple of blocks away from The Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races before midnight. They said Diaz smelled of alcohol and became argumentative.

Diaz was off duty at the time. He was placed on administrative leave.
