Fairfax City Passes Tethering Ordinance

Tuesday night, Fairfax City joined a growing number of Northern Virginia communities in passing an ordinance to limit the amount of time a dog can be tethered outside.

Alexandria and Arlington already have limits, because Commonwealth law doesn't set any limits.

The ordinance passed 5-1 in Fairfax City, and Mayor Scott Silverthorne cast the deciding vote to limit the tethering hours from three hours to a one-hour limit.
