F-16s Scramble After Plane Enters Restricted Airspace

Two F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Cessna 182 Monday afternoon after it entered restricted airspace, according to NORAD.

Upon intercepting the aircraft at about 2:15 p.m., the F-16s escorted the plane until it landed without incident at approximately 2:32 p.m. at Manassas Airport, where the plane was met by local law enforcement.

Officials said the student pilot was not a threat to national security, but did violate the 30-mile radius of restricted airspace in the D.C. region.
