A former kindergarten teacher in Franklin County, Va., has been sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.

Angela Robin Nolen, 47, was sentenced Friday in Franklin County Circuit Court to a charge of soliciting murder.

Nolen and a co-worker approached an undercover state police sergeant and agreed to pay him $8,000 to kill Nolen's ex-husband, retired school administrator Paul Strickler.

Circuit Judge William Alexander will require Nolen to serve 2,000 hours of community service, teaching people who have been incarcerated. She will not be allowed to begin performing that service until after her release from prison.

Nolen's co-worker, Cathy Warren Bennett, pleaded guilty last month to conspiring to solicit murder.
