Ex-College Student From MD Sentenced in CT Party Drug Overdoses Case

A former Wesleyan University student involved in a rash of campus overdoses tied to the party drug Molly has been sentenced to four months in prison.

Bethesda, Maryland, resident Zachary Kramer, 22, also was ordered Thursday to serve eight months of home confinement and attend outpatient drug treatment.

Kramer pleaded guilty in November to distributing a synthetic drug made by a friend on the university's Middletown, Connecticut, campus.

Eleven people were hospitalized and one almost died early last year after ingesting the drug MDMA.

Kramer's friend Eric Lonergan pleaded guilty to similar charges. He's scheduled to be sentenced June 15.

Prosecutors say Lonergan and Kramer sold the drug on campus for more than a year.

Lonergan is from Rio de Janeiro. Prosecutors say he regularly sold Molly from his dorm room and counseled students on how to ingest it.
