Evans Raises Most Money for D.C. Mayor

D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans is now the top fundraiser among the candidates for mayor of Washington, but Councilmember Muriel Bowser has more money to spend.

Evans' latest campaign finance report shows he raised nearly $392,000 between Aug. 11 and Oct. 10. For the entire campaign, he's raised $768,000. He has $497,000 in cash on hand.

Bowser, meanwhile, has $597,000 in cash left - $100,000 more than Evans - despite raising less than 60 percent of what Evans brought in over the past three months. She says in a statement that she's using "every hard-earned dollar wisely.''

Councilmember Tommy Wells' campaign says he raised $103,000 and has $137,000 on hand. Former State Department official Reta Lewis raised $92,000 and has $78,000 left.

Mayor Vincent Gray hasn't said whether he's seeking re-election.
