    A family is asking the driver of a hit and run crash to turn themself in after an 85-year-old was killed crossing the street near her home in Centreville, Va. (Published Friday, Feb. 20, 2015)

    An elderly woman was struck and killed by a car in Centreville Thursday night.

    Someone called 911 after an unconcious woman was found around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Stone and Braddock roads. Crews had transported 85-year-old Adela Antayhua to a hospital, but she passed away on the way. Police said a driver struck her, then fled the scene. 

    "If you're responsible ... just call the family. We need to know what happened," Antayhua's relative Marisol Villaroel said.

    Her family and neighbors said she would often walk from home to a nearby shopping center.

    "We're hopeful that someone saw this woman attempting to negotiate across the lanes. If someone saw her, we'd like them to contact the Fairfax County Police Department," Capt. Ed OCarroll said.
