Summer vacation will come early for students attending Fairfax County Public Schools.

The Fairfax County School Board approved a revision to begin summer vacation earlier then expected this year due to unused weather-related makeup days.

At a meeting on Thursday, the board voted to schedule the last day of school for Friday, June 15, instead of Tuesday, June 19.

June 18 and 19 will now serve as teacher workdays.

The board says the schedule could change again in the case any unforeseen emergency school closings.
