Beck Can't Lead Comeback as Redskins Fall, 20-13

Grossman throws four INTs in ugly loss

Rex Grossman threw four interceptions and was pulled in favor of John Beck as the Redskins returned from their bye week and suffered an ugly 20-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx Field.

Grossman threw his fourth interception with 2:10 left in the third quarter and was replaced by Beck, who saw his first NFL regular-season action since 2007.

Beck managed to scramble for a 2-yard touchdown with 2:44 remaining to cut Philadelphia's lead to 20-13, but the Eagles managed to run out the clock on their ensuing possession.

The Eagles scored the first points of the game on their second possession, driving 82 yards in 11 plays to take a 7-0 lead as Vick tossed a 7-yard screen pass to Brent Celek, who took it in for a touchdown. The drive was helped immensely by a roughing-the-passer penalty against Brian Orakpo on a 2nd-and-12 play from Philadelphia's own 16.

Philadelphia doubled their lead on the second play of the second quarter as LeSean McCoy slipped through the left side and into the end zone from a yard out to make it 14-0.

After a Redskins punt, Philadelphia drove into the red zone again, but the drive stalled, and the Eagles settled for a 28-yard Alex Henery field goal to take a 17-0 lead.

On the first play from scrimmage after the field goal, Grossman threw his second interception of the first half, which set up another Henery field goal, this time from 24 yards away to make the score 20-0.

The Redskins cut the gap to 20-3 as Graham Gano nailed a 50-yard field goal with 30 seconds left before halftime. Gano drew Washington a little bit closer on the first possession of the second half, as he hit a 26-yard field goal to make the score 20-6.

Vick finished the afternoon with 18 completions in 31 attempts for 237 yards and an interception to go with the touchdown pass to Celek.
