A man allegedly responsible for several sexual assaults in Dupont Circle has been arrested, D.C. police say.
Four assaults -- each involving a man approaching unsuspecting women, touching them in an unlawful manner and fleeing -- took place during the first two weeks of August.
Officers arrested Oscar Mauricio Carnejo-Pena, 30, at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday, MPD said. He was charged with four counts of Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse.
The investigation continues.
“With these types of assaults on the rise, it is good to get this suspect off the streets," said Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier. “Women should be able to walk freely without being violated.”
