Dumfries Shooting Suspect Arrested

Police have arrested the man who allegedly shot two people on Wednesday

Johnathan Davon Coleman was arrested and charged in the shooting of two Dumfries, Va., residents Wednesday.

Police went to the 2900 block of Wetherburn Court for the report of a shooting on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims are believed to have been inadvertently shot as a result of an altercation that took place near where they were at the time, police said.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for their injuries. They are expected to make a full recovery.

Police later stopped a vehicle matching the description of the one at the scene.

Coleman was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of discharging a firearm in public.

The suspect is being held without bond and is set to appear in court on June 4.
