In the course of two weeks, customs agents at Dulles captured two Nigerian men carrying a combined three pounds of heroin between them.
The latest incident happened on January 16. Investigators said a New York City resident returning from Nigeria gave two different stories when questioned by customs officers.
They said during a secondary interview, Michael Babatunde, 19, of Queens, asked to use the bathroom. According to U.S. Customs officials, Babatunde then deposited 55 thumb-sized pellets in an airport toilet. The pellets tested positive for heroin.
Babatunde was transported to a nearby hospital, where he evacuated another 31 pellets. In total, he expelled 2 pounds and 6 ounces of heroin, investigators said, with an approximate street value of $78,000.
