Dry Conditions Trigger "Red Flag" Warning in Maryland

A “Red Flag” warning was in effect for much of Maryland Wednesday.

That meant today's dry conditions created the perfect breeding ground for dangerous wildfires.

Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources and the National Weather Service issued the warning for Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Queen Anne and Washington counties.

The conditions contributed to several brush fires today, including one behind a home in District Heights, Md.

Residents were asked to be extra careful when they cooked out, made a campfire or smoked – things that can easily ignite dry leaves.
