Driver Strikes 3 Police Cars During Chase in Va.

A man being pursued by police struck three police vehicles during a Friday morning chase, Fairfax County police said.

A Fairfax County police officer tried to stop the man for a traffic violation in the area of Hunter Village in Springfield, Virginia. The man -- whom police later identified as Zoltan Mogan, 47, of Springfield -- would not stop and led police onto the outer loop of the Beltway, police said.

Police say Mogan took the Eisenhower Avenue exit into Alexandria. He struck two unmarked Fairfax County police vehicles and a Virginia State Police cruiser along the way, police said.

Police said Mogan was driving at least 50 miles per hour at times during the chase. One officer told News4 that they believed the driver intentionally crashed into the cruiser.

Mogan turned onto a dead end street, drove through a construction site and crashed into a fence, police said. Officers -- including some of those who drove the cars the man had smashed into -- surrounded him and took him into custody.

Mogan, who lives not far from where the chase began, was charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, impeding the flow of traffic and felony speeding to elude police.

No one was injured in the incident.
