Driver Sped Off With Prince George's Co. Police Officer Caught in Door

Officers, K9 units and a police helicopter are searching for a driver who sped off with a Prince George's County Police officer caught in the door of a car, crashed and then fled by foot.

The officer approached the driver near Alberta and Todd drives in District Heights, Maryland, about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to PGPD.

The officer became caught in the car's door, and then the driver sped off with the officer halfway inside the car, throwing the officer to the ground.

The suspect slammed into a tree about 100 yards away and then took off on foot, police said.

He is identified as 26-year-old Danny Lee Harvell.

The officer's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Information on why the driver was stopped was not immediately available.
